The Online Payments solution of CCV is constantly evolving and improving to provide users with the best possible experience. It is designed to streamline the payment process, making it convenient and efficient for both customers and businesses. In November 2022, a new version was released which brings important additions to our suite of payment tools, and we are excited to offer it to our users. We believe that this new release will be a valuable addition to the Online Payments solution of CCV.

Rebranding to new CCV style
CCV is rebranding. More information about this can be found here: https://www.ccv.eu/en/about-us/our-story/rebranding/
In the October release, all visual elements of the Online Payments software were updated. In this November release, all custom merchant templates were rebranded.
As example the image below, where the old graphics are shown on the left, and the rebranded graphics on the right. (for privacy reasons, the “Referentie” and “Omschrijving” elements were removed from the screenshots.)
Klarna reversal
Klarna is a payment type that is only available through CCV Shop.
Until now, Klarna reversals (CCV calls this chargebacks) were not visible in the PSP. Therefore, when the collector tried to verify a bank statement with the PSP transaction, this chargeback was not shown. As a result, the sum of transactions did not match, and the collector indicated the difference as an issue.
To solve this, a manual intervention was required whenever a chargeback was done.
With this release, Klarna reversals are handled as Chargebacks. This means that the VPOS will handle this as a chargeback, and no manual intervention is required anymore.
Enable / disable 3DS2 Exemptions on Method Card Config
What are exemptions?
In 2015, the European Parliament adopted the European Commission proposal to create safer and more innovative European payments. This was called PSD2, Directive (EU) 2015/2366. These rules aim to better protect consumers when they pay online, promote the development and use of innovative online and mobile payment such as through open banking, and make cross-border European payment service safer.
The PSD2 direction also allows the use of SCA exemptions, which can be requested if the transaction meets any of the criteria in the list below. The issuer decides if the exemption is granted or not. When an exemption is requested, the liability shifts to the requester.
Type | Description |
---|---|
Low Value | Transactions under EUR 30 do not require SCA but the issuing bank will keep track of certain counters such as the number of transactions or the sum of transaction amounts. If the shopper’s transactions for one card exceed the counter, for example, after five consecutive transactions or if the sum exceeds EUR 100, the issuing bank will require SCA. |
Transaction Risk Analysis | Transactions can be considered as low risk based on the average fraud levels of the card issuer or the acquirer processing the transaction. Either the issuer or the acquirer can request this “TRA exemption” (Transaction Risk Analysis). The issuer will eventually decide whether to accept this exemption. |
Trusted Beneficiary | After a strongly authenticated payment session, shoppers can add the merchant to an allowlist for the issuer. If this is requested, the merchant’s fraud level must be granted by the issuer. In 3D Secure 2, shoppers will be able to select a checkbox to add the merchant to an allowlist. The issuing bank will not require SCA on the next payments for the same merchant. However, note that this exemption depends on whether the issuer supports allowlisting. |
Secure Corporate | These are payments made through dedicated corporate processes initiated by businesses and not available for consumers. Examples are payments made through central travel accounts, lodged cards, virtual cards, and secure corporate cards, such as those used in a corporate travel management system. |
What’s new in this release?
Until now, 3DS2 exemptions were always enabled. This was causing an unwanted liability risk for CCV.
With this release of the VPOS, exemptions are disabled by default and can manually be enabled.
From now on, when the boarding tool is used by merchants to request a new payment method, these exemptions are automatically disabled and can be requested through the interface.
Please note that for already boarded merchants, the existing payment methods are not automatically updated. Therefore, existing merchants might still use exemptions. An action is needed to update the exemption configuration at all these merchants.
Important bugfixes
A number of bugfixes were resolved with this release. The following are worth to mention:
- It was possible to perform a capture on an authorization which is reversed. This is not wanted behavior and is now blocked.
- When the authentication of a Bancontact transaction gets an unexpected delay, it was given the status FAILED. When the authentication completed, this could not be updated to APPROVED.
